Mecwacare’s John Hood Terrace is a newly redeveloped residential aged care home designed to support comfort, dignity and meaningful daily living. Led by LiFE Architecture, in collaboration with Sora Interior Architecture & Design, the project carefully balances contemporary amenity with the character of its original 1850s heritage façade.

The home offers 77 light-filled ensuite bedrooms and suites, complemented by a variety of thoughtfully designed communal spaces. Dining rooms, lounges and quiet retreat areas open to landscaped terraces and generous balconies, creating places for residents to connect, relax or simply enjoy fresh air and changing seasons.

The architectural approach focuses on wellbeing, ease of navigation and a sense of belonging. Soft, natural palettes and tactile, residential finishes have been selected to evoke familiarity and comfort, while durable detailing ensures long-term resilience and operational efficiency.

John Hood Terrace reflects Mecwacare’s commitment to providing supportive, person-centred care in an environment that feels genuinely like home — welcoming, uplifting and deeply connected to its community.
